ADAS Calibration & Diagnostic Services

  • Required after any collision:

Front Radar calibration – Ford, GM (collision where damage exceeds minor outer body panel cosmetic distortion).

Windshield Camera calibration – Subaru Eyesight, GM (collision where damage exceeds minor outer body panel cosmetic  distortion).

Seat Weight Sensor initialization – Honda, Toyota (varies by year & model), Subaru & Mazda (only when DTC is present).

  • Required after an Alignment:

Windshield Camera calibration – A number of manufacturers require calibration when steering & suspension components  are replaced or if an adjustment is made during an alignment.

VW / Audi – Require most ADAS systems to be calibrated when steering & suspension components are replaced or if an  adjustment is made during an alignment.

Steering Angle Sensor – ADAS sensors operate off of the steering angle value stored in the vehicle. This value must be  zeroed after an alignment with adjustments or in some cases after a battery disconnect.

  • Required after a Bumper repair / replacement:

Never repair a bumper cover in the vicinity of a radar module that detects through the cover, paint/primer only

Front Radar Calibration – All manufacturers where the radar is mounted to or directly behind the bumper cover.

Blind Spot Calibration – Most Manufacturers (GM, Ford, Chrysler, Mercedes, & Nissan pre-2022 do not have calibration  operations).

Park Sensors – Ford, Some Toyota & GM models.

360 Camera – Most manufacturers when the camera is mounted in the front bumper cover.

  • Required after a Structural repair:

Includes damage beyond minor cosmetic abrasions to the welded, riveted, or bonded parts of the main unibody as  well as the bumper reinforcements, door intrusion beams, or bolt-on radiator supports

Honda – Requires front radar and windshield camera systems to be calibrated after any structural damage, and the blind  spot radars to be aimed after any structural damage to the rear of the vehicle.

Most Manufacturers – ADAS components mounted on or near the damaged structural panels should be calibrated  especially if the ADAS component is removed for the repairs. Remove components if within 12” of welding due to  possible internal damage caused by the welder.

Any ADAS component removed for any reason will typically require recalibration regardless of there being no  DTC’s or warning lights present. Related DTC’s can usually be cleared after component R&I, this does not mean  the system is ok. Most vehicles cannot tell if their ADAS components are misaligned. The ADAS systems may  continue to work but the response time and accuracy can be greatly affected.
